The two different Brow Tattooing techniques used at Madeline Kate Brow and Skin Boutique is ‘FEATHER TOUCH EYEBROWS’ & ‘COMBINATION/SHADED BROWS’. We have listed information about both brow tattooing methods below.

FEATHER-TOUCH EYEBROWS

Feather-Touch Brow Tattoo (also known as microblading), involves a hand-tool with a cluster of fine probes, which is used to implant pigment into the skin to create semi-permanent, life-like hair strokes and natural-looking eyebrows.

The benefits include:

  • 24 Hour Beauty & Confidence

  • Natural looking

  • Time Saving

  • Smudge Free

  • Waterproof

  • Feature Enhancing

  • Symmetry Correction

  • Fuller Brows

COMBINATION BROW TATTOOING

(also known as Shaded/Ombre’ Brows), involves a digital method tattoo machine and a hand tool method to implant pigment into the skin.

This technique utilises a hair stroke method in the centre of the eyebrows to create a “soft” centre and then utilises a machine method on the mid-brow and tails to create the appearance of a softly powdered brow.

This method is great for all skin types, however particularly better for correctional cover up of previous tattooing, a sensitive skin and for those with an oily skin type.

Although this technique initially looks bolder in colour and sharply defined, it does heal soft and subtle.

This method of brow tattooing is suitable for:

  • Cover up of previous tattooing that has faded.

  • Any client who prefers the look of this technique.

  • An alternative to Feather Touch Brows.

  • Suitable for oily skin types.

  • Those who are not afraid of an initial "bolder" look, until a softer healed result settles into the skin.

  • Shading creates more depth for those with larger gaps throughout their natural brow.

  • Those who are after longevity of their brow tattooing.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMBINATION BROW TATTOOING AND FEATHER TOUCH BROWS

The main difference between Combination brow tattooing and Feather-Touch brows is the type of equipment used and the healed outcome. Combination brow tattooing utilises a hand tool method AND a digital tattoo machine to created a soft shaded brow with a filled in outcome through the mid-brow and tails, whereas Feather-Touch brows utilises a non-electic hand tool to implant fine hair strokes into the skin, throughout the entire eyebrow. Combination brow tattooing may create a longer lasting eyebrow compared to Feather-Touch alone.

PRACTICING AT THE HIGHEST STANDARD

The MK BROW TEAM has extensive knowledge in dermal anatomy, physiology and microbiology, allowing us to practice at the highest standard.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COSMETIC AND TRADITIONAL TATTOOING

The main difference between a traditional body tattoo and a cosmetic tattoo is the type of equipment used and the depth of the pigment implanted.

TREATMENT CONSULTATION

A 30 minute consultation takes place before treatment (on the same day or seperate if needed). This covers the treatment in depth, your desired/recommended eyebrow shape, pigment colour and aftercare instructions.

BROW SHAPE & COLOUR

Prior to treatment we will outline, measure and pencil on a brow shape and choose the most suitable pigment colour. We will take into consideration the most appropriate shape and colour to suit your specific facial features, natural brow line, skin tone, hair colour and your desired brow shape and colour.

Small amounts of discomfort is expected, however we make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

  • Initial appointment: 2.5 hours (including the consultation time).

  • Perfecting touch up: 1 hour

WHAT TO EXPECT POST-TREATMENT

  • Swelling and redness is minimal and usually subsides within 24 hours

  • Immediately after, the area will appear bolder in colour and sharply defined. This can take approx. 1-2 weeks for the colour to settle.

  • There may be visible peeling/flaking for approx. 1-2 weeks

  • The skin takes 4-8 weeks to heal at a cellular level and for the true pigment colour to settle

  • You may feel itching in the eyebrows. Do not scratch the area.

  • This will NOT prevent working or socialising.

TREATMENT AFTERCARE

  • You cannot submerge the area in pool/salt water for a minimum of 2 weeks, therefore it is NOT recommended to plan this treatment close to any holidays or swimming events.

  • Makeup can be worn around, but not over the area for a minimum of 2 weeks.

  • It is not recommended to use any tanning products near the area while it is healing.

  • A recommended tattoo balm will be applied to the area.

  • Further aftercare instructions will be given to you at your appointment.

PERFECTING TOUCH-UP TREATMENT

Feather-Touch Brow Tattoo is a multi-step process. A touch-up appointment is scedualed 6 weeks after your initial appointment. Colour retention varies depending on the individual, skin type and client compliance of homecare instructions.

FURTHER RETOUCHING

Feather-Touch Brow Tattooing require a re-touch treatment from 12 months onwards. Feather Touch Brow Tattooing may fade within 6 months - 2 years depending on your skin type and long term aftercare, however we avoid retouching the brows for a minimum of 12 months.

The longevity of colour in the skin cannot always be predicted. Some skins hold colour longer and stronger than others, while others fade leaving a light residue in the skin. Pigment may fade or change according to metabolism, lifestyle, skin type, medications, age, smoking, alcohol, sun exposure, and use of active skincare products such as Retin-A and Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s).
